THE HISTORY
FLAMEMASTER is a unique product that represents a major development in the field of cable fire protection. The FLAMEMASTER Corporation has been solving problems of thermal protection since 1949, when the United States Army specified a Flamemaster product to protect the booster tubes of the Nike-Ajax missle. Other Flamemaster products have subsequently been specified by the NASA, the US Armed Services, US Armed Forces and Mitsubishi International Corporation on such projects as Saturn V(Apollo), Saturn 1, Centaur, Athena, Thor, Nike-Japan Minuteman, Titan 11, Titan 111, Blue Scout, Atlas, Sidewinder and Others. NASA has used Flamemaster Products for Apollo Moon Missions and the space Shuttle Program.
Drawing upon these years of experience in the protection of missiles and missile launching facilities. FLAMEMASTER broadened its activities into general industrial fire protection. Many firms around the world began speciafying FLAMEMASTIC for fire protection in both conventional and nuclear power stations, power substations, oil refineries, paper mills, mines, underground rail stations, hotels and commercial buildings.

In 1969, Flamemastic was tested and approved by several large power companies. These approvals were followed by the first comprehensive cable protection programs at American Electric Power and Florida Power and Light. Critical areas protected included: Cable vaults underneath control rooms, cables in vertical shafts and cable was used to provide fire stops wherever cables and trays penetrated walls and ceilings. These applications continue to provide effective fire protection and Flamemastic is specified by these utility companies in their other installations.
FLAMEMASTIC 77 was introduced after a lengthy test program, eliminating asbestos as well as other chemicals that can present a problem with known toxicity standards. Ongoing test programs have proven FLAMEMASTIC 77 to be safe and superior to all other cable coatings.
FLAMEMASTER Company is a leader in the manufacture and sale of fire protection coatings for both Industry and Military.
